SHARING IS CARING!

Planning your first camping trip can be both exciting and overwhelming. Here are some steps to help you plan your first camping trip:

1. Determine the type of camping experience you want

Do you want to camp in a tent, RV, or camper? Decide what type of camping you want to do and what amenities you need.

2. Choose a campground

Research campgrounds in the area you want to camp and choose one that fits your preferences. Look for campgrounds that have the amenities you need or activities you want to do.

3. Reserve your spot

Once you have found a campground that you like, make a reservation. Some campgrounds book up quickly, especially during peak seasons, so make sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible.

To let you know how true that is, I almost didn’t get a spot for Memorial Day because I waited too long. It was down to only two campgrounds out of all of them in the area I was searching. So because of this I’ve already booked the July 4th holiday because I don’t want to miss out!!

If you have pets that will be camping with you, be sure to book a spot that is specifically for pets. All campgrounds that I’ve looked at have specific spots that allow you to bring your furry friends.

4. Gather camping gear

Make a checklist of essential gear to bring on your trip, such as a tent, sleeping bag, stove, cooler, and other essentials. Rent or buy equipment as needed. Always bring a first-aid kit and extra supplies.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll have TONS of extra supplies!! I always want to make sure I have everything so I know I overpack, but I’d rather be safe than sorry!

5. Plan your meals

Decide on what you will eat during your camping trip, and plan your meals and snacks in advance. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water.

6. Pack appropriately

Pack for the weather and bring clothes for all occasions. Don’t forget to bring layers and rain gear.

7. Learn camping rules

Research the rules and regulations of the campground, and be aware of fire and wildlife safety rules.

8. Prepare for emergencies

Create a plan for emergencies and inform others about your plans. Bring a map, compass, or navigation device, and a fully charged phone.

9. Enjoy the experience

Once you’ve completed all the above steps, all you have to do is go out and have fun. Enjoy the nature and the camping experience.

Remember that proper planning makes a successful camping trip. By following these steps, you can have a safe and enjoyable first camping trip.
