So you want to find a way to be able to make money that allows you to work as you travel and camp. There are many ways to make money online but none are an overnight success. You have to work hard but it can be done. Starting a blog can be an exciting and fulfilling venture.

**Just so you are aware some of the links in this blog post are affiliate links meaning if you sign up by clicking on my link, I may earn an affiliate commission, but this does not at all increase the price you are paying.

With that being said, here are the exact steps you can take to get started building your blog:

Decide on a topic that you are passionate about and that you would like to write about. It could be something you have expertise in or something you are curious about.

If you’re not sure, here are a few ways to help you decide.

  • What is a topic or question that friends and family are always asking you for your help or opinion?
  • What is something you could talk to people about for 20 minutes without having to think about what to say? Meaning it just flows freely.
  • What is something that you do in your current 9-5 that lights you up? Something that you would like to take away from that career and apply to your blog?
  • What is something that you’re interested in and would like to learn more about and want to take the time to learn about online and pass the information you learn along to your followers?

There are several blogging platforms available today, such as Wix, Blogger, Squarespace and WordPress and it’s best to choose one that fits your specific needs.

One thing to remember is, if you are wanting to create your website/blog as a business to make money from and gains many followers, my suggestion is you select WordPress. And for the remainder of this blog post, we will be discussing WordPress specifically.

Your domain name is the name is the web address that people will use to find your blog. Choose a name that is unique, memorable, and easy to spell. And if I can give you one tip, that is, if you’re not completely sure of your blog topic and are thinking in the future you may pivot, add topics or change completely then do not choose a domain name that is too specific.

For example, when you start you choose but a year later you decide you want to add fitness information because it’s something that you’re also passionate about, you will not be able to add this to your current blog because it doesn’t fit your current domain name.

I use Name Cheap to purchase all of my domain names and you can as well by clicking the following link: Click here to get your domain name for $5.98 for the first year.

Hosting is the service that allows your blog to be accessed on the internet. There are SO MANY hosts and some of them are really good and others aren’t so good. I have used Blue Host in the past and they were good at the time but I cannot speak for them more recently. I currently use SiteGround and you can click here to get a really great deal for your first year!

Choose a theme or template for your blog and customize it to fit your needs. Make sure your blog is visually appealing and easy to navigate.

Start writing and publishing content on your blog. Make sure your content is engaging, informative, and relevant to your audience.

Decide on a schedule that you will follow whether it’s once a week, twice a month or something different. Once you start getting followers, they will look for your new posts so posting on a schedule is key to success.

Use social media and other online platforms to promote your blog and attract readers. Engage with your readers and respond to comments and feedback.

Remember, starting a blog takes time and effort, but it can be a rewarding experience. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things, and always strive to improve your content and grow your audience.
